Priyamvada Das

I come from a family of professionals, my father having been in the government services and mother a lecturer in Economics and later a teacher trainer. I did my entire Education in Delhi finishing my schooling from DPS, RK Puram and BA and Masters in mathematics from St. Stephen’s college.

From an early age I enjoyed teaching friends and neighbors. Therefore my choice to take up teaching as a profession came as no surprise to my family or friends.

After 11 years in this profession, my love or passion for it has only increased, as with every passing year I see myself learning more and growing in every aspect other than just in the area of academics. I am currently working with the Aga Khan Education Service and working on School improvement projects and community development initiatives.

Mathematics as a subject has always fascinated me and I enjoy teaching it even more. I love teaching Calculus and higher Algebra.

Other than teaching I have varied interests. These include reading, travelling, painting, dancing and choreographing dances in classical and semi classical styles. I have been trained in Oddissi and still enjoy teaching this form of dance to my students. I have been actively involved with the SPIMACAY organization bringing about awareness of Classical dance and music among the youth.

My marriage, birth of my son and struggle with motherhood has also helped me grow and mature. I enjoy reading to him and our most precious moments are spent huddled under a blanket with a book.
