Tigers! Those majestic beasts of the jungles that ignite a sense of awe in the beholder. At the very top of the food chain, they are loved, worshipped and feared in equal measure.

In this book we see the tiger in all its moods, from a playful cub to a doting mother, from being a predator to the danger of becoming prey. We also see how the jungle trembles at the sound of its roar sending shivers down the spine of all animals, some give warning signals, with most others quickly scuttling off to safety.

With a few deft strokes of the pen, the author quickly takes us through the journey of a little cub from a helpless little animal to a majestic animal; lord of the jungle.

The language is simple and jargon-free making it easy for a child to go through the book without much effort. The uncluttered layout is effective, though the colors are somewhat subdued giving the book a duller look than it deserves.  However, the mood of the animals are beautifully captured in their facial expressions. We see the indulgent smile of the mother, the naughty waywardness of the cub, and the fierceness of an animal on the prowl.

Children reading this book will feel an empathy tonwards the animal setting the stage for them to becoming their protectors in the years ahead.
