Manu has a brand new raincoat and like most little children, he is now eagerly awaiting the onset of the monsoon. Everyday he asks his mother whether he could put his lovely red raincoat and step out to play. Patiently his mother explains to him why it was not yet the right time: the sky was still clear, and that it was only when the dark clouds, the bringer of rain, came rolling in that it would be the right time. Finally, the long awaited moment is here. Monsoon clouds start to amass and, to the sound of rolling thunder, it begins to rain. Swept away with excitement Manu runs into the garden to the amusement of the reader.

A sweet story, one that almost every child in India will be able to identify with--the eager anticipation of the monsoon rains that herald the end of the scorching summer and the first rain of the season that brings people out of their homes, dancing with joy in the downpour.

The story also introduces the child to the days of the week and very subtly to understand how clouds in general differ from rain clouds.

Minimal text, great layout and appealing illustrations is sure to engage the child.
