It is Meenu’s birthday and she wants it to be very special. Grandfather promises to take her to the village fair and she eagerly looks forward to it. However, when the day arrives Meenu falls and hurts her leg and is unable to go. At first, Meenu is very disappointed, but not for long, as, thanks to her friends her birthday does turn out to be a special one, after all.
The book is bi-lingual, and, as such, is not only a useful vehicle for developing literacy in English but also in inculcating an understanding and appreciation of one’s own language and script.
Children will love the vivid illustrations that evoke scenes of a typical fair in rural India, with its pell-mell, clutter, crowds and all kinds of vendors - clothes sellers, ice-cream carts and even street performers!
