How does one get a child to read books? Is a question parents of young children often ask. Well, quite simple, I say, get them books such as this one.
It’s funny, it’s witty, it’s quick-paced and as a bonus there is an underlying message that bullies also have their Achilles heel, one just has to wait to find it.
The story is about Armaan, who yearns for a dog as a pet, but when he finally does get one, he is not so sure that it is a good idea after all. For dogs, especially little ones can be quite a handful.
But after some nail-biting suspense in which Bonkers – the dog, instead of helping matters actually lands up, setting Armaan up against the school bully. Will the bully succeed in taking revenge or will Armaan have to continue trying to escape him, or...does Bonkers have a grand plan?
The illustrations effectively reflect the humour of the book, thus adding to the child’s reading pleasure.
This Duckbill hole book sure is a whole lot of fun!
The book has been awarded the Crystal Kite Award for the year 2014!
